National Science Day 2012 // Event

On 27th April 2012, the Vienna Biocenter (VBC) opened its doors to the Long Night of Research, which was supported by the Council for Research and Technology Development, the Federal Ministry of Economy, Family and Youth and the Federal Ministry for Science and Research. Despite the sunny weather, more than 500 visitors accepted the invitation. 62% of the visitors were below the age of 30 and participated intensely in the 22 hands-on activities.
With 21 stations and more than 50 researchers on site this event was the most comprehensive public presentation of the campus in 2012 and the visitors were visibly impressed. Moreover, the Minister for Science and Research O. Univ. -Prof. Mag. Dr. Karlheinz Töchterle visited the event for about an hour, signalling the outstanding contribution of the VBC to the research community in Vienna.
