Clinical Trials Day 2012 // Event
On 20th May 1747, the Scottish medical doctor James Lind conducted the first clinical trial. Therefore, 20th May has been designated International Clinical Trials Day in order to acknowledge the life changing achievements that result from the work performed by clinical researchers.
On 18-20th May 2012, the Medical University of Vienna organised the event Tag der klinischen Forschung in order to honour the International Clinical Trials Day. During the event, a symposium took place with many pioneers of the clinical research field. Additionally, there were some stations where the public, and especially children, could explore the amazing world of clinical research and discuss with the researchers. Last but not least, Paint your PhD was a special art-action, where researchers had the unique opportunity to paint their scientific topic, making it interesting for the public and raising awareness that science is a part of our society.
